'Joey' is a prolific cold hardy avocado, which produces numerous medium sized fruits with thin purple skin. The fruits ripen in August - September, later than the Mexicola Grande. With its creamy texture and low oil content, Joey is a favorite for both eating fresh and cooking!

Joey is a Type B avocado, which means that its female flowers bloom on the afternoon of the first day, close in the evening, and reopen as male flowers on the morning of the second day. Most avocados are considered self fertile, but planting with a Type A cultivar such as the Mexicola Grande will increase fruit set.
