A small to medium-sized succulent with show stopping colors, it presents with wide rosette and spatulate leaves (i.e. spatula-shaped leaf; having a broad rounded apex and narrow base) with stunning coloration. Its leaves are hues of pink and violet, deepening in color when grown in bright sunlight. It has a thick coating of natural wax that both allows it to tolerate full sun and gives it a soft, pastel appearance. Though slow to offset (produce pups), 'Dusty Rose' does send up a tall bloom stalk from which hang coral, bell-shaped flowers.
Like many succulents, Echeveria need bright sunlight to maintain their colors and compact rosette form. If they recieve too little sunlight, the plants will stretch and the colors will fade. They will not survive a hard frost, but if there is a risk of freezing temperatures they can be brought indoors to grow on a sunny window sill or under a grow light. Also known as "Mexican Hens & Chicks", Echeveria can produce new offsets or "chicks" around the base of the mother plant. These chicks can be left to form a tidy cluster or removed and transplanted. Additionally, Echeveria can be propagated from stem cuttings or from mature leaves.
