Adams is a perennial American Elderberry that was first cultivated from wild elderberries in New York in the 1920s. It has large clusters of aromatic white flowers in the spring that ripen into large clusters of dark purple to almost black berries in the late summer/early fall. Fruits can be used for wine, juice, jams and jellies, or for drying. The flowers and also be dried and used for tea or wine. Responds well to pruning which is recommended to maintain a useable size. Very attractive as a food crop for wildlife. Pollinate with any other American Elderberry.
