Wyldewood was introduced from the University of Missouri and Missouri State University in 2010. It is a vigorous grower and does well in a wide range of soils. It produces extra-large clusters of white flowers (up to 12 inches wide, 2-3 inches larger than any other cultivar!) which ripen into small purple-black fruits. Wyldewood is an indeterminate cultivar, meaning it continues to flower and fruit throughout the growing season. Fruits can be used for wine, juice, jams and jellies, or for drying. The flowers and also be dried and used for tea or wine. Responds well to pruning which is recommended to maintain a useable size. Very attractive as a food crop for wildlife. Pollinate with any other American Elderberry, but the best pollinators are Ranch or Bob Gordon.
