The Green Ischia (pronounced: "Eastt" - "key" - "Ah") Fig (Verte) is a very good fig for our southern gardens, doing well in Zones 8 - 10. Often left on the tree to ripen in early autumn, this would normally be an invitation for birds to come feast, but since the skin maintains it's greenish color even when dry, the birds apparently have a hard time locating them. Doesn't grow very large in statue (think LSU Purple as opposed to Brown Turkey, for example) so it is a good choice for smaller areas.
