This pecan cultivar is known to be drought tolerant and no abscission of leaves with water stress. Elliott has moderate resistance to high winds, with relatively minor damages during hurricane storms. The resistance to wind is due to the strong crotch agles of the branches and open canopy that Elliott provides. Requires minimal tree training. Following excessive yields, dieback of some of the smaller branches is common. Nut shape is oval with an obtuse base.
